The first 2007 entry….
Well, we are on the countdown to leaving the UK and Liz is finally doing a blog entry! We had a lovely Christmas and New Year for our last time and are now trying to get our arses into gear. I finished work on Friday January 12th (and got a horrible cold the next day, wouldn’t you believe it) so we have at least two weeks to do the final bits and pieces and then do our final farewells to all the lovely people we have met in the UK. The house stuff looks to be nearly there as we sign the contract and finalise some questions Monday 14th. Therefore, we should be able to finish the last minute things very quickly. We have to try to sell our car too, and I would feel better if that would sell very quickly. It looks like we should be leaving February 3rd and start our exciting adventure.
I had another panic moment thinking what are we doing! It still seems so unreal and cannot believe we are doing this. I think I will believe it once we ride to Dover! I know it will be a trip of a lifetime but there are still moments where I think we should just get on a plane to Australia. That would save the worry of going through some countries.
So we still have to finish the service on the bikes, get tools and spares for the bikes, buy a little more clothing, get the travel insurance, arrange the international driver’s licences and carnet de passage, book the movers and pack. There are also little things to do, which I know will make the last two to three weeks fly by.
We can’t wait to keep you updated on our journey and hope we can share some memories along the way. Then we will get to see all our friends in Oz and I can’t wait to give you all a big hug.
